PKMF Tri–Discipline Scholarship

Penticton Kiwanis Music, Dance and Speech Arts Festival would like to recognize a well rounded performer; demonstrated by registration in multiple disciplines. For any aged youth registered in Three (3) or more Solo Entry Disciplines of Penticton Kiwanis Music Festival. Any combination of registration in 3 disciplines of: Classical/Modern Dance, Stage Dance, Classical Voice, Musical Theatre, Pianoforte, Speech Arts, Strings, Woodwind, Brass or Guitar. (Classical Dance and Modern Dance qualify as one discipline).

Application must include

  • Name
  • Address
  • a list of confirmed entries (Discipline, Category/Title, comp #)
  • a short essay of what involvement in the Performing Arts means to you (250 words or less)

Winners of the Scholarship will be selected by a panel of board members and presented at the Highlights Concert.

 

Applications must be received by March 1, of  the current festival year. 

 

SCHOLARSHIP FOR VOICE - Junior

 

Candidates must be 14 years or under, and enter the following categories: 
Art Song and any THREE selections from the Junior category of Vocal Solos. One selection must be in a foreign language.

 

SCHOLARSHIP FOR VOICE - Intermediate


Candidates must be 17 years and under and enter the following categories:
Art Song, and THREE selections from the Intermediate category of Vocal Solos. One selection must be in a foreign language.

 

SCHOLARSHIP FOR VOICE - Senior


Candidates must be 22 years and under, and enter the following categories:
Art Song, and THREE selections from the Senior category of Vocal Solos. One selection must be in a foreign language.

PKMF AWARDS

 

Adjudicator's Choice: Cash award; recipient selected by the adjudicator based on impressive performance and may not be determined by marks.

Medallions and Cash Awards: each solo class will be awarded for top marks within specified age groups.

Medallions:  Will be awarded to the individual(s) that receives Top Mark in Grades 1-4, Top Mark in Grades 5-7, Top Mark in Grade 8 - 10 and ARCT and will be awarded during the Festival Competition

 

EVA and HUGH CLELAND SCHOLARSHIP

 

APPLICATION REQUIRED

All of the following requirements must be met by a Penticton Kiwanis Music Festival participant in order to qualify for the Eva and Hugh Cleland Scholarship.

1. The participant must apply for the scholarship prior to the commencement of the
    Festival. In order to apply for this scholarship please submit a short history of your
    music background and details of how you qualify.

2. The participant is from the South Okanagan area (Summerland and south).

3. The participant intends to pursue a career in music teaching, coaching or performance.

4. The participant is a Grade 12 graduating student or has completed Grade 12 but is not already
    enrolled in a post-secondary music program.

5. Within one year of the festival, the participant must be enrolled in a recognized post-
     secondary educational institution such as a university or college majoring in music or a
     diploma course at a music conservatory.

6. The participant must be of a deserving calibre as determined by the Music Festival Board.

 

NOTE: If the winner does not meet the guidelines set out in #5, funds will not be dispersed for that year.

 

Applications must be received by March 1 of the current festival year. 

 

Funds will be paid directly to the educational institution upon receipt of confirmation of the winner’s enrollment.
